Answer: All of them! They are feeling the hot sun today and hiding in all shady spots. Couldn't get all the pups in the pictures as they are way under the deck.
We heard a bark outside and looked out the window and all the pups are sleeping next to the house! They go up to the whelping box at night and are usually running all around in the morning!
Yesterday we noticed there was a Tom strutting for a hen in a field across the pond. In 2 of the pictures you can see the hen. He was spinning in a circle as you can tell by the pictures. It's definitely spring time! The pictures came out pretty well considering they were taken with a camera phone through a scope.
The kids are in this video today. You hear the baby crying because her shoe came off and the others are chasing a chicken and pulling string off it's feet while trying not to get pecked haha! The pups were playing all over yesterday! All their playing is essential in proper muscle development and helps with agility. The growling and chewing is how they learn their language and how to communicate with each other. They all practice being dominant and submissive as they learn. Only a couple more weeks until you can enjoy all these wonderful moments with your own puppy!
The pups are spending more and more time away from their whelping box and exploring the great outdoors! The chickens are already at ease with all the pups. I found the chickens have been inside the whelping box with all the pups! I walked in to check their water and 5 chickens came out of the whelping box while the pups were napping. Some pups are napping in the whelping box while the others were outside playing. We had about 100 American White Pelicans show up on the pond today! These birds have an amazing wingspan between 7 to 10 ft! Quite impressive watching them soar! Their huge beak ranging in 11 to 15 inches in length has a flat top and during breeding season has a bill "horn" that is shed after breeding and eggs are laid. These birds have the bill "horn" and are in their breeding season. The pictures are taken with my phone through a scope and aren't great, but, you can see the lump on their beaks in some of them. |
