The picture on the left is from last week and the one on the right is from today. She is getting close to her halfway mark!
CWe are pleased to announce we have a new four legged family member! Meet "High Punching Jet" aka Punch! He is a pure bred registered Quarter Horse. He is 10 years old and used to be a really good barrel racer. He loves getting attention and being fed his sweet grain twice a day. He hasn't been ridden in a while so he needs a bit of work to get him back into a riding routine.
Luci and Cisco aren't happy that he is here and they are still trying to figure him out. Neither one has seen a horse before. I think they think he is a giant dog as when Punch looks at them, they take it as a challenge on their property and they start to look like Cujo. It will be around a week or two for the horse and the dogs to settle down around each other. Punch doesn't like dogs though. Today, when the dogs came close to the fence or would walk along the side the fence, he would either throw his head at them and snort or bunny hop buck and run while throwing his head and snorting to get them farther from the fence. It worked as it has scared the dogs when he does that and they bark at him from farther away. Barking at him doesn't seem to bother him though. Just when they enter his comfort zone. The dogs need to know where that is so when we take him out for lunging and riding, they don't get kicked. The first picture is of Luci at the beginning of her heat cycle. The second was taken today. Luci is between 17-24 days pregnant which is based on their first and last tie. You can see in the second picture the area just behind her chest wall is drooping!
Cydney is now 9 months old and really likes chewing on her best friend Carolina's head. Thankfully Carolina doesn't mind one bit :) Cydney is tall and long and looks just like Luci!
It has been 2 1/2 weeks since Luci was bred and she is looking thicker just below her chest. She is also eating more and getting pampered inside the house more than she usually does. She spends a lot of time protecting the little one and follows her everywhere.
